  • Partial Knee Replacement
  • Minimally Invasive Total Knee Replacement
  • Hip Replacement – Anterior approach and posterior approach

Dr. Barton is a specialist in outpatient hip and knee replacement, utilizing minimally invasive techniques to help his patients recover quickly and return to their favorite activities faster. Dr. Barton believes that patient education and discussion of all available options is crucial to both patient satisfaction and great outcomes. His goal for outpatient surgery is “home the same day as surgery to recover in the comfort of your own home.” He will be offering joint replacement surgery at Missoula Bone & Joint Ambulatory Surgery Center, and Providence St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula.

Patients (and their “coach”) that are scheduled for surgery at Missoula Bone & Joint will be encouraged to attend a pre-surgery Education Class for Joint Replacement that will discuss what to expect before and after and how to be best prepared at home. This class discusses cold therapy, medications, bowel movements, pain management, assistive devices, therapy, moving about, and who to contact if you have any questions. Our patients gain valuable tips and feel confident that they can recover comfortably at home following their surgery. The feedback we have received has been very positive, and we continually revise our processes so that our patients have an excellent experience and an excellent outcome.
