Gary Willstein, MD

Dr. Gary Willstein is a board certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in total joint replacement of the hip, knee, and shoulder; sports medicine; fracture care; and general orthopedics. He is a very experienced surgeon with over 28 years specializing in orthopedic treatment and surgical success. He prides himself on providing exceptional patient care, which is evident from his patient reviews.

The time is right for joint replacement surgery is when your quality of life is being affected by your joint pain. Dr. Willstein uses the Superior Approach for total hip replacement, a tissue-sparing approach known for reducing recovery time and getting you back to functional movement, faster. He also has expertise in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery of the hip, knee and shoulder joint. Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical technique that is used to repair damaged structures inside the joint. Dr. Willstein likes to work with his patients to find the best treatment options for the individuals level of injury and lifestyle goals.

When he isn’t working, Dr. Willsten enjoys skiing, sailing, tennis, photography and family activities. He has been a volunteer with Missoula Medical Aid on several medical trips to Honduras to provide orthopedic care. Dr. Willstein and his family also visited Ghana, West Africa, in spring 2016 with the “It Takes a Village” organization and a group of Hellgate High School students.
