He attended medical school and completed his internship and residency at Indiana University School of Medicine, and then went on to pursue a fellowship in hand and microvascular surgery from the University of Utah. As any artist knows—whether you’re woodworking, sewing, knitting or painting—fine motor skills in your hands and wrists are vital to your craft. And for anyone else who needs comfort and function in their arms and hands for sports, cooking, working, typing, and playing with the kids or grandkids—which is most of us—conditions affecting your upper extremities can be particularly debilitating as well. Dr. Puckett’s specialization brings top expertise to this important area of the body, working with you to find a solution for your condition.
Upper extremity musculoskeletal disorders (UEMDs) affect many, and they have a negative impact on quality of life, so specialized treatment is especially vital. The most common conditions treated are carpal tunnel, tendonitis, arthritis, DeQuervain’s, Dupuytren’s contracture, and fractures. Many of these disorders not only cause pain, but they can also lead to loss of muscle and mobility.
Dr. Puckett performs carpal tunnel and some other microvascular surgeries in the clinic setting, using sterile set up. This is a cost saving to his patients and minimizes surgical waste. When needed, he will utilize our ambulatory surgical center, on the same campus at 2360 Mullan Road in Missoula, Montana.
Dr. Puckett first came to Missoula as an independent physician at Missoula Orthopedic Associates, and in 1999 joined together with his colleagues to form Missoula Bone & Joint. He and his wife, raised their two boys in Missoula and fell in love with the great outdoors of Montana, especially skiing, mountain biking and hiking.
