Missoula Bone & Joint is taking outpatient surgery to the next level with a new 5 star facility on Mullan Road. Dr. Gholson checks in on his patient after partial knee replacement surgery. She was up and walking within a few hours and began recovery in her own home later the same day. This is what she said one week later “I want to thank you for the fantastic care you provided for me during my recent knee surgery. Your service and care is truly unmatched….and the new facility is top knotch! So impressed with the service and facility and Dr. Gholson.”
If you have arthritis on one compartment of the knee and the pain is stopping you from doing the activities you enjoy, please schedule an appointment with Dr. Gholson and learn if partial knee replacement is an option for you. The partial knee surgery replaces one side of the knee joint and leaves the surrounding ligaments, including the ACL, in tact. Your knee feels more like a natural knee. The implant is custom fit to the patient with sizing and angles, so it fits like a glove, and allows for normal flexion and extension.
Richard gives Dr Gholson a thumbs up after his partial knee surgery last week. Our new outpatient surgery center allows patients to be up and moving within a few hours. Patients like being able to recover in the comfort and safety of their own home. Thank you for sharing your experience Richard.
Here is a before and after knee x-ray to give a better understanding of the term partial knee replacement. The knee image on the left indicated by the arrow, shows absence of meniscus and a narrowed joint space. This bone on bone is what causes the knee pain. The x-ray on the right shows the implant after surgery. The implant is custom fit to your femur and tibia, with a plastic insert in between that acts like your meniscus. The patient has normal range of motion and is back doing the activities they enjoy.
