Sports Performance Camp - Missoula Bone & Joint - Orthopedic Urgent Care - Surgery Center - Western Montana

Missoula Bone & Joint Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine is pleased to announce our sports performance camp. This group training program for agility-based youth athletes is designed to reduce ACL injury potential while enhancing athletic ability and strength through conditioning and education.

Did You Know?

  • Female athletes are 4-8 times more likely to sustain a serious ACL injury compared to male athletes  
  • 70% of all ACL injuries result during non-contact play
  • An average recovery and return to sport is 8-12 months  
  • 250,000 ACL injuries occur per year in the US
  • Cost of ACL surgery is approximately $15,000

Program Details

Out sports performance camp is a 7-week summer program, with sessions held twice a week on Monday and Wednesday from 8 am – 9:30 am (more sessions available as needed). Sessions are limited to 10 athletes. The cost is $200.

The 7-week program consists of: 

  • Dynamic Warm-up Instruction
  • Pre- and Post-Testing
  • Exercise Mechanics
  • Multi-Directional Speed & Agility
  • Strength
  • Balance
  • Flexibility

What’s the Goal? 

  • Assessment of technique and body mechanics from start to finish
  • Improve strength, stability, agility, and flexibility
  • Improve speed and response 
  • Increase confidence
  • Gain knowledge 
  • ACL injury prevention

To achieve these goals, we will focus on several key concepts including:

Performance Testing

  • Landing Error Scoring System (LESS)
  • Hop tests
  • Agility testing (T-test)
  • Vertical (Vertec)

Jumping/Landing Technique

  • Knee orientation during landing and jumping
  • Step-by-step technique instruction
  • More efficient movement

Multi-Directional Speed & Agility

  • Change of direction
  • Mistake correction
  • Predictable vs. unpredictable change of direction


  • Proprioception (awareness of body position)
  • Various surfaces
  • Thorough functional athletic movements 

Functional Strength

  • Core strength
  • Hip strength
  • Lifting mechanics


  • Dynamic warm-up instruction
  • Static stretching
  • Mobility exercises and techniques
